Many of the towers and castles of Anoia date from between mid-10th and mid-11th centuries. At that time the counts of Barcelona, Osona-Manresa and Berga-Cerdanya occupied and repopulated the territory, displacing the former Muslim owners.
When the area was not the front line of the border anymore, the castles became the administrative center of the new feudal lordships. Among others, families such as the Claramunt, Montbui, Tous or Òdena stood out.
