Nomy

Fight disinformation while living a great adventure!

Nomy is an innocent creature in search of the truth. On their ascent to The City, they must learn to distinguish between false and factual information. Created alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts, this fun educational game showcases the transformation we undergo through critical thinking.

The educational goal of this video game is to acquire and train the skills needed to identify fake news and disinformation. Thanks to Nomy, players will learn how to detect and use evidence, recognised authorship, subject-matter experts, and both linguistic and emotional factors.

Actions

Based on an original idea and content proposal by screenwriter and game designer Daniel Hurtado, our narrative and art team designed a world divided into three levels to represent Nomy’s ascent towards The City. The design of the central character includes twenty-two physical transformations that serve as an analogy for the evolution of the player’s critical thinking.

Each of the three levels relates to an increasingly complex analysis of information. The player receives a news item or a fragment of information at each stage of the journey and must interact with it on three levels:

1.Analysis: A news item is presented and two questions are asked: whether the news is reliable or not, and if it is determined not to be, which elements of the story are correct or incorrect. The decision has consequences for the parameters that contribute to Nomy’s faster or slower evolution.

2.Reflection: Each unreliable news item displays a series of influential groups. The player must select the one that benefits from its dissemination.

3.Sharing: The player must decide whether the news should be shared or not.
